Film Scoring
A musical destination is often the actual "living space" of the artist. Lex has been occupying the ethos of film scores ever since, well . . .
Forever . . .
"It might have been hearing West Side Story, then actually seeing the film - it was amazing", says Lex.
There's always been a sense that images , especially "moving pictures", gain so much power and meaning through the associated music. The excellence of movies comes from their basic magic of the mind's immersion in the story. The "suspension of disbelief" that needs to happen before a movie can be thoroughly enjoyed. And we humans love a good story . . .
Here's a piece from Lex that has been in circulation for a few years:
Snippets, Jingles & Ring Tones
There are always snippets and teasers that folks have associated themselves (& their personnas) with for years. Walk-up music for baseball players, highlight reel backing tracks, commercials - you name it and there's a tune behind the "message".
That ability to convey emotion and mood is essential to any situation. Many times the actual musical piece is not remembered, but the "product" is. There are countless examples of lingering association, from the simple four tonesof the Intel "signature" to The Lone Ranger's theme (Rossini's William Tell Overture). How many people know (or care) where various originals came from? They do care about the associations . . .
Film scores sometimes inherit that mystery of origin. That memory tag associated with much more than the actual tune. We'll "see" where Lex pops up next . . .
