Thoughts . . .

I started this journey in 2008 because of a long-held desire, and dream, to understand the process of "creating music".

The musical vocabulary that I have acquired over time is an odd mix of classical influences, jazz and musics from other countries, as well as rock, with an approach that is painted with the feeling of the blues. The differing genres are due to the influence of both of my parents.

It was my wish at a very young age, to become a musician. At this young age, I quickly realised that I seemed to have the ability to play whatever I may have been listening to. To a degree that somewhat startled my mother.

From that time, I always heard music internally . . .

The struggle for me was to somehow bring this music out. I realised at some point that my musical expression was somewhat one-dimensional.

The education that I have received has expanded that dimension.

To this day, it is still a struggle, but I have tools now that have enabled me to “listen and hear” the music that is all around us. The melodic way that all languages move; the machinery containing “intervals”; the way unrelated birds seem to sing in an orchestrated way . . .

Thank you – all my teachers.

I am a fortunate man . . .

From here, I can see your home . . .

Cuddled within this universe.

Golden light from your sun . . .

Drenching this island.

All of you sing . . .

Everyone, all at once . . . Music’s!

Breath-making song that reaches here.

Finely sharpened notes,

Chico’s upward glance – finger's ivory dance.

Gate, gate, go beyond chants – the sutra of the heart.

Dance on a voodoo wall.

All the world sings “sleep”.

Everything and One at once.

Bird’s morning choir, if you listen, bring us back to . . .
